Last week, Singapore was mentioned on Glee, my newest favorite show. I was pretty excited.
I was all "Hey! I live there! Yes! They cane the crap out of people! It does work! Hey, I'm here now!".
Then, I mellowed out and realized that it's a little sad that the only thing Americans know about this little island is that they cane the crap out of their criminals.
I'd just like to say that they have delicious chicken rice and BBQ stingray as well.

Don't forget chili crab, because that's not Malaysian.
Before I moved to Singapore, the only thing I knew about it is that they cane the crap out of their criminals. That's all my family knew about it. I still have to remind some friends that Singapore isn't in China.
Oh I get that all the time too. "Where in China is Singapore?"
Believe it or not, the last time we were back in the States, someone even asked me "Singapore? Now, what state is that in?"
It was all I could do not to laugh.
Have you looked at a map lately? Especially of some of the southern states? There are some crazy names there that copy the names of cities all over the globe. So, I actually kinda understand that person asking you what state Singapore is in.
Found a link for you:

Wild, right?
TC, don't take this the wrong way but if SG were put up to heavy scrutiny I think most Americans would find the values and ideals of a large portion of the country at odds with some of the core values of our nation.
hello! may i ask on which website do you watch glee on? i cant find esp 3 anywhere online! Thanks!
Hey Anon,
I usually just google it. There's also a great website called "Project Free TV". I don't remember the URL, but just try Googling it. You should find it. I use that one to find a lot of my fave shows.
Hope that helps!
If you are an American, the food might be good but as a singaporean this country is a puppet democracy...tell you what..try democratically opposing the government and let's see where you end up.
I have been reading your blog for a long time.
And just saw this post linked by theonlinecitizen just recently...interesting.
most livable city in asia! singapore!
