Have you heard of Kumar yet? No? Let me introduce you.
Kumar is Singapore's favorite cross-dresser. Yes, he's openly gay and dresses like a queen. Surprising for a country that bans homosexuality, right?
The guy's got balls. (And boobs.)
But that's not exactly all. He's a hilarious comedian that performs in clubs across Singapore. He covers topics that most Singaporeans would consider taboo, such as the government, sex, and homosexuality. For you Americans out there, that's a really big deal here in Singapore. People don't talk about those things —at least not in public.
I think he's hilarious. (Now that I know what he's saying. That Indian accent is a tricky one for some Americans to catch...like me.)
ABC News did a story on him about a year and a half ago, if you're interested in learning more.
I admire his wit and his bravery. Oh...and his dress.

They don't just ban it. It's punishable by law I thought?
The guy's got balls, for sure, especially speaking out against the government publicly. It's one thing to do it anonymously from the internet. It's quite another when you do it in person or under your own name.
I suppose what he's got going for him though is a wide fan base that would have a problem with it if he got snatched up.
So basically he's already been written off and doesn't have enough sway for anything he says to make a difference anyway is what you're saying? But then if that's the case why isn't he arrested for openly being gay?
Oops. Now how did my full name get up there? -_-
oooooh noooooes! I shall be destroyed!
Yup, that's right. Sodomy is illegal in Georgia still. Kinda ridiculous, because everyone's doing it anyway.
I just find the laws pertaining to sexual acts for Singapore. Think I'll blog about it sometime.
